SLOTTED FLAP WHEELS Slotted flap wheels are available as made-to-order in diameters from 30 to 80mm with a 6mm diameter spindle by 40mm length. The additional slots on the flaps improve the flexibility, making it much more comfortable to use, reaching difficult-to-access areas and quickly profiling to the complex contours of the workpiece. Please contact your local sales rep for additional info. Flap wheels with shaft achieve their best performance at a recommended speed of 15-25m/s. At that speed the stock removal, surface finish, thermal load of the workpiece and tool wear are optimised. To prevent unnecessary tool wear do not increase the contact pressure too much, to increase the stock removal use a coarser grit size. Increasing the cutting speed produces a finer surface finishing, a higher contact pressure creates a rougher finishing.
