(this grain appears blue in bond VM) Zirconia Alumina is dedicated to use in rough applications where high stock removal is required. It allows for up to 4x faster stock removal than aluminium oxide. There are 2 types of zirconia alumina: ZF with 25% of ZrO2 and NZ with 40% of ZrO2 Semi-friable Alumina has a combination of friability and toughness giving the wheels their free cutting characteristics combined with good form holding and a high degree of versatility. Pink Aluminum Oxide is a friable grain for good cutting performance. Long lasting profile, reduces the need for dressing. Used on a variety of steels. White Alumina is a highly refined form of aluminium oxide containing over 99% pure alumina. This gives wheels friability and free cutting action. Used mainly for the grinding of very hard or heat sensitive materials. Silicon Carbide is hard and brittle for grinding low tensile grey iron, chilled iron, cast iron, soft bronze, copper, aluminium, stone, marble, rubber, hard facing alloys, and cemented carbides. There are two varieties of silicon carbide; black silicon carbide (C), is generally used for roughing operations in coarse grit and resinoid wheels. Light green (GC), is preferred for specific applications such as precision and carbide tool grinding.
