30 31 GLASS FOR FAÇADE EDITION 2021 GLASS FOR FAÇADE EDITION 2021 The Festival in Stratford, Canada, is internationally known for its annual Shakespeare performances. To celebrate the 100th birthday of its founder, Tom Patterson, an international architectural competition was launched for the construction of a new theatre. The winning design by Siamak Hariri from Hariri Pontarini Architects received international attention even before its opening, which has been postponed to 2022 due to the pandemic. The theatre won the Best of the Best Award in Cultural Architecture at the MasterPrize in Los Angeles and is listed as a regional finalist in London’s prestigious Civic Trust Award 2022. The 70 million dollar building is LEED Gold certified and features sustainable materials throughout.
