COLOMBIA A feat of natural air conditioning HEADQUARTERS OF THE EAN UNIVERSITY IN BOGOTÁ. Architect Agustín Adarve Gómez considers the headquarters of the EAN university in Bogotá to be exemplary, with its combination of new technologies and natural ventilation methods. The building comprises a dynamic double-skin façade combining plexiglass tubes and passive solar skylights. It incorporates both passive ventilation and solar control. This design maximizes energy savings in classrooms, communal areas and the sports center. The façade is the result of a joint effort between the bioclimatic architecture consultancy Natural Cooling, headed by Agustín Adarve Gómez, and the American architecture and design firms William McDonough and Partners and AIA (architectural and civil engineering partnership). © William McDonough & Partners
