IN SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA), the Quay Quarter Tower embodies an exemplary approach to circularity. The site was previously home to an office block constructed in the 1970s. Rather than demolishing it, the project built on what already existed: a large part of the load-bearing structure (slabs, columns, and core) was preserved, reinforced, and integrated into the new building. This in-depth transformation made it possible to reuse 70% of the structural materials and significantly reduce the embodied carbon, making the tower a global benchmark for reuse on a large scale.
